Rev. Neil Culbertson, Pastor, Missionary,
& Journal Developer, Marthoner, lover of
church family and their pet dog, Bailey...

Rev. Culbertson is a gospel minister, ordained in the Christian Reformed Church of North America. Rev. Culbertson and his wife, Janie-Lou, came to serve Faith Presbyterian Christian Reformed on August 31, 1983. The Culbertsons have continued on Guam with a lovely group of christian disciples of every color, shape and size, ever since. In the past 26+ years they have added a dog, Bailey, and in 1993 were blessed with a son, Chris Kelly.

As if pastoring wasn't enough to keep Rev. Culbertson busy, he has served in additional responsibilities over the past two decades. Off-and-on, Rev. Culbertson has been the President, Vice President, Treasurer/Sec'y, of the Guam Ministerial Association (GMA), which provides fellowship, networking, and a group insurance plan for upwards of 50-65 gospel ministers, missionaries and para-church workers. The GMA also addresses matters of community concern with the insight of God's Word as various issues arise.

Rev. Culbertson and the church he serves assisted in the planting of a Chinese Christian congregation on Guam in the early 1990's. Before such time no organized Chinese ministry existed on Guam. By God's grace a small group of Chinese members in the congregation formed a Chinese house church, which eventually grew into a worshipping congregation of 40+/- adults (add children). Over more than a decade the Chinese Christian Church of Guam has been served by two pastors and currently has their third pastor leading them in the worship and service of Christ.

Upon the completion of their own new worship facility in May of 2003, the Faith congregation eventually invited a Chuukese congregation to join them in sharing facilities.  Most recently (Aug 2006) Little Lambs Pre-school & Daycare was opened. The rate of transience on Guam is much higher than compared with most places in North America, so turnover of membship is frequent, but there is a solid, long-term and faithful core that carries the ministry vision and helps incorporate less permanent members into meaningful ministries. With other congregations from many other Christian denominations, Faith Church is active in Prison Fellowship ministries in both the men's and women's facilities of the Department of Corrections. Small group ministries meet in various members' homes throughout the week. And a thriving, multi-cultural youth group meets on Friday evenings throughout the year.

With the development of The Christian's Spiritual Training Journal©, Rev. Culbertson produced a companion workshop called "Discovering the Disciplines". The workshop, which extends over a 6 hour period, usually on a Saturday, has been well received by Christians from many churches on Guam. Rev. Culbertson has also organzied and offered the workshop in Stateside venues in California and Washington states. In 2007 the workshop was presented for area churches in Grand Rapids, Michigan and nearby vicinities. Now, in 2009, the workshop continues to prove effective and is presented only twice annually as time allows.

Rev. Culbertson received his B.A. in Classical Languages & Studies at Dordt College, Sioux Center, IA (1975-1979); he received his Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI (1979-1983); began pastoring Faith Presbyterian CRC in 1983 to the present; has served on various government committees for the government of Guam both for the Guam Legislature, the office of the Lt. Governor, the Airforce, the University of Guam, and as President of the Guam Running Club.
